History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

At Van Zandt County Historical Commission, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of our community. Through our work promoting historical markers and providing educational programs, we strive to inspire a love of history in visitors of all ages.

Our collection includes artifacts, documents, and photographs that highlight the people and events that have shaped our community. From early county  history to the present day, our exhibits offer a glimpse into the past. We are currently working on making our records accessible to researchers; this is a work in progress!

The Van Zandt County Historical Commission  is composed of history-minded individuals who are appointed by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court.  We meet once a month, 10 months out of the year.  If you are interested in joining, contact us via email at vanzandttxchc@gmail.com
